The Rebecca Kilgore Quartet

Start off the New Year with a smile on your face and a tap in your toe as you enjoy one of North America's most well-known and well-loved jazz singers. Rebecca regularly performs worldwide at jazz festivals, jazz parties, and on jazz cruises. She is a frequent guest on National Public Radio’s ‘Fresh Air’ with Terry Gross, has appeared on ‘A Prairie Home Companion’, and with Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall. "Music of the People"   Join these three outstanding Victoria musicians as they explore the influences of the folk song, the café/cabaret and elements of jazz in the music of Wilder, Bartok, Vaughan-Williams, Renaud Garcia-Fons and others. The program features the delightful, well-loved Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano by Francis Poulenc.

This incredible young pianist from Vancouver treated us to a breathtaking noontime recital in our 2013 Harvest of Music festival, and everyone in the gallery on that day afterward exclaimed, "PLEASE invite her back for a full-length, Music On Sunday concert!" We are very happy to now respond to that unanimous, popular demand. Today's program will feature works by J. S. Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel and Liszt.

Another wonderful two-piano recital in our intimate gallery!  This time it is our pleasure to present  these two internationally acclaimed artists who, in addition to their busy performance schedules, are distinguished Piano Faculty members at UBC and UVic. The program will be Brahms Variations on a Theme of Haydn for 2 pianos, Op. 56b and Sonata in F minor for 2 pianos.

University of Victoria School of Music Annual Unaccompanied Bach Competition Winners

It is our great pleasure to again work with The Lafayette String Quartet to present their leading students who have excelled at playing an entire unaccompanied Sonata, Partita or Suite by J.S. Bach by memory.

The Davidsbündler Duo (Reginald Quiring, viola and Rosemary O'Connor, piano)

The Principal Violist of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and one of Vancouver's most
in-demand chamber music pianists will treat us to a delightful program that will feature works by Bach, Brahms and Hindemith.

The Charlie Porter Quartet

Now based in Washington's San Juan Islands Charlie has toured throughout most of the United States and abroad in Europe, Asia, the Baltic States, the Middle East and Africa as both a bandleader and as a sideman with musicians such as Joe Zawinul & Paquito D'Rivera. He holds a Bachelor's degree from The Juilliard School in classical trumpet performance and a Master's degree from Manhattan School of Music in jazz performance and was the first ever to be awarded 1st Prize in the U.S. National Trumpet Competition in both Jazz and Classical divisions.     With pianist Ron Hadley, bassist Ken Lister and drummer Hans Verhoeven

Singer/Songwriter Shari Ulrich

A two time Juno Award winner, and inductee into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame, Shari brings a special warmth, humour and honesty to her songwriting and solo performance along with her wide range of instrumental skills on piano, guitar, violin and mandolin. Her latest release “Everywhere I Go” is her 8th solo album, and the 21st of her career including her work with Pied Pumkin, Ulrich Henderson Forbes, and the bluegrass band, The High Bar Gang. Shari has received two nominations in this year’s Canadian Folk music awards for solo artist and songwriter of the year.

Singer/Songwriter Duo: Rick Scott and Andréa L'Heureux

Rick Scott  is his own unique genre: an award winning singer, songwriter and actor, and Canada’s leading proponent of the Appalachian dulcimer. Rooted in folk and blues, inspired by Broadway musicals, Pete Seeger and Danny Kaye, his joyous mix of music, storytelling and humour has delighted audiences for 35 years in 9 countries. Rick will be joined by Nanaimo vocalist Andréa L’Heureux, whose beautiful and soulfully sincere voice heals the heart and uplifts the spirit.

NOTE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mr. Grieco has been forced to cancel his North American tour. In place of this concert, we have scheduled a solo recital by the internationally acclaimed pianist BRUCE VOGT featuring works by Mozart, Liszt and Schubert.

This multiple award winning Italian pianist performs in major festivals and concert halls throughout the world.  " of the most interesting performers that Italian music has generated in the last years...young and established talent in the survey of the Italian classical music"- Tra la Terra e il Cielo
Mr. Grieco will perform works by Bach/Busoni, Beethoven and Liszt.

An ongoing "series within the series" presentation that features brilliant performances by leading students and recent graduates of the University of Victoria School of Music. The program will include works by Beethoven, Sibelius and Eugène Ysaÿe.

Jason Cutmore, piano

New York based Jason Cutmore has performed piano recitals and collaborative concerts throughout North America, Europe and India, winning praise for his “brilliant technical finesse” and “deep emotional penetration” (Offenbach-Post, Germany), and for the “charismatic generosity of communication in his music.” (The Telegraph, Calcutta, India).
Today we will enjoy works by Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Bach, and Deodat de Severac

A captivating four hands one piano recital by two superb, internationally active concert pianists and teachers who are now based in Vancouver. On today's program will be compositions by Mozart, Schubert and Brahms.

The Craig Scott Trio

Craig Scott is an accomplished drummer, vibraphone player and percussionist. This concert will bring us the rare treat of hearing him on both vibes and drums! His drumming credits include concert and club dates with international artists such as Randy Bachmann, Frank Wes, Pat LaBarbara, Natalie McMaster, Dianna Krall, Herb Ellis, Phil Woods, Rosemary Clooney and many more. Craig also has extensive recording experience in television, film and radio, and is often heard on CBC broadcasts.

The internationally celebrated Lafayette String Quartet lends us one of its illustrious members, who will collaborate with her esteemed colleague on the University of Victoria School of Music Faculty to bring us an enchanting afternoon of compositions drawn from the rich repertoire available for these two instruments, including works by Beethoven and César Franck.
