The Táman Trio

Fortunately for all of us, the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest 2007 is being held in Vancouver, and we are thus able to bring excellent players from all over the world to Music On Sunday. This superb trio is based in Belgium and its members are Tamara Cuypers (clarinet), Thomas Landschoot (cello) and Daan Vandewalle (piano).

Winds is one of the leading woodwind quintets in the
Western United States and is a resident faculty
ensemble at the Brigham Young University School of
Music, in Provo, Utah.  April Clayton-flute, Geralyn
Giovanneti-oboe, Laurence Lowe-horn, Jaren Hinckley-clarinet and Christian Smith-bassoon

Daniel Nix-Solo Double Bass (with Pianist Matthew Poon)

Daniel Nix, acclaimed as “a true rising star of the solo double bass,” currently resides in British Columbia, where he is a student at the University of Victoria. Daniel is the only private pupil and protégé of the world-famous soloist, Gary Karr.  Under the tutelage of this mentor, Daniel studies, arranges, and performs a wide range of solo repertoire.  He has appeared as orchestral soloist and recitalist both in the United States and Canada, including a recent feature concert at Carnegie Hall.
